Fares
Fares for the diesel railcar services between Stanhope and Bishop Auckland can be found below. For fares between our other intermediate stations, please click the 'Detailed Fares' button.
Tickets can be purchased at Stanhope ticket office or onboard the train, where we accept cash and card payments. Please note that pre-booking online is essential for some of our special events and trains.
Gift vouchers are also available to purchase here.
Family: 2 adults and up to 3 children (aged 5 to 15 years inclusive)
Senior: 60+ years
Free Travel: 4 years and under
Carer: Complimentary when accompanying one disabled passenger (proof of carer status required)
Kids for a Quid
Enjoy a day out with the family on the Weardale Railway with our day rover tickets. These cover you for all day travel from any of our stations on the days we are running to the Purple and Light Blue timetables. One adult can travel with up to two children aged 5 to 15 for just £1 each when purchasing a valid day rover ticket (the full child fare applies for any additional children).
You can buy these tickets at Stanhope Station or onboard our trains.
Terms and Conditions
Issued tickets are not transferable.
Bicycles are carried at Guard's discretion dependent upon space. Well behaved dogs are permitted on the train, but not on the seats please.
Services are operated by Weardale Railway Limited (WRL) on behalf of The Auckland Project (TAP) and supported by volunteers of the Weardale Railway Trust.
The Auckland Project Annual Pass
From the 22nd April 2023, customers who purchase a ticket from or to any Weardale Railway station will receive a 10% discount on The Auckland Project annual pass, which they can use at any of The Auckland Project attractions in Bishop Auckland, including Auckland Castle and Gardens, the Spanish Gallery and the Mining Art Gallery. Please retain and show your ticket when purchasing the pass at these attractions.
