Emergency Training Exercise at Wolsingham

Updated: Dec 16, 2022

The railway hosted an emergency training exercise at Wolsingham Depot on Saturday 14th May. The exercise involving firefighters from County Durham and Darlington Fire Service, staff from Weardale Railway Limited and volunteers from the Weardale Railway Trust, simulated a collision between a car towing a caravan and a locomotive on a level crossing.

This is the third training exercise that has taken place at the railway, with the previous two taking place at Stanhope Station simulating a chemical leak onboard a train. The purpose of these exercises is to test the joint working between the railway and the emergency services, as well as providing a learning experience for all those involved.
