King's Coronation Weekend Celebrations at Weardale Railway

Updated: Apr 29, 2023

As part of our celebrations commemorating the Coronation of King Charles III, the Weardale Railway is delighted to announce that we have local celebrity from Masterchef Nickolas Rapson joining us to judge our our own 'Great Coronation Bake Off' day on Sunday 7th May.

We are inviting people to bake to celebrate the King's Coronation.

  • Design can be royal, railway themed or simply a bake of your choice.

  • Sign up for the Bake off challenge by 30th April 2023.

  • There are various ways to delivery your entry:

    • Delivery your entry to Stanhope Station from 09:00 on 7th May.

    • The baker plus one other person can travel to and from Stanhope with their bake for FREE!

    • Or if you can't come along to Stanhope, you can hand your bake to the train staff on the 11:30 departure from Bishop Auckland West or stations along the route and they will deliver it to Stanhope for you (see collection times & full timetables on the attached form).

  • Final judging will take place at 14:00 of the 7th May (last train departs from Stanhope to Bishop Auckland West at 15:20).

  • Coronation themed prize for every entry (sponsored by Cecelia's Attic).

  • The winning entry will win a family ticket for a day on the railway including a ride with the train driver.

If you would like to take part, please complete the booking slip attached.

If you need any additional information please do not hesitate to call Claire Gibbons on 07810 305705 or e-mail claire.gibbons@aucklandproject.org.

We look forward to receiving your entry. Total maximum entries is 30.
