Special Christmas Trains to Run in December

Following a successful summer season of the heritage service run by the Weardale Railway Trust, The Auckland Project have announced that they are running special Christmas trains through December.

Over the next few weeks Stanhope Station will be transformed into the magical 'Santahope'. There will be three trains a day running on nine days using the Class 122 bubble car. The round trip between Stanhope and Wolsingham will take about an hour allowing Santa plenty of time to meet all the families and hand out gifts.

There will be festive snacks and warm drinks available as well as a Christmas Market.

The Trust are supporting the event by helping to prepare the stations, and providing volunteers to operate the trains and welcome visitors at the stations. The Trust's shop will also be open on each day.

Tickets went on sale at 10am on Wednesday 9th November and with a limited number of seats available are expected to sell out quickly.
